Today's blog post is aimed at people who have to concentrate for long periods of time, such as pupils, students and business workers. I'm sure everyone knows the feeling of not being able to concentrate, even though there's so much work that needs to be done. However, there are a few foods you could eat that can help you strengthen your concentration skills.

1. Oatmeal

Not only is oatmeal serve as a great base for a tasty meal, but it's also very good for fighting hunger, even though the calorie count is quite low. Just add some fruit and nuts and that would be a great breakfast for you to start a productive day.

2. Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate is known to balance your hormones and increase your concentration and happiness levels at the same time. Furthermore, it consists of various antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that help with controlling the blood pressure.

3. Water

The list wouldn't be complete without water. Even though technically it's not classified as a type of food, water is so important and irreplaceable for the human body. It serves as a source for hydration and cleansing. Another benefit is the fact that water is so cheap.

4. Berries

Pretty much everyone likes berries, be it strawberries, blueberries or raspberries. They are a great ingredient and smoothies or simply just by themselves, since they add that extra kick of sweetness. Not only are they rich in antioxidants, but a study recently revealed that people who drank blueberry juice for a period of two months were able to significantly improve their memory.

5. Salmon

The reason fish is such a great food for boosting the concentration is because they contain a lot of Omega-3-fatty acids. Especially salmon is a great option, because it helps the body in rebuilding brain cells as well as strengthen the synapses. This results in a better memory and a better ability to focus for long periods of time.

6. Green Tea

Even though most people rely on coffee to make them feel more awake, green tea is another alternative. Not only is it considered to be extremely healthy, but it also contains a lot of caffeine at the same time. The difference is that it won't cause you to have a headache.

7. beetroot

The latest health trend has been adding beetroots to smoothies. The reason behind that is that they are rich in nitrates that in return increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain. As a consequence, the food will improve your learning performance and even your overall mental health. If you don't feel like drinking them, just try adding them to your salads and wok dishes instead.

8. Bananas

Scientific studies show that students who eat bananas before an exam performed better compared to those who didn't. This is due to the high amounts of potassium found in the fruit. The mineral is said to help your brain, nerves and heart in a good shape. With the above in mind, why not just have it for breakfast or a snack before studying, especially when it tastes so good at the same time.

9. Spinach

I'm sure you've heard of the cartoon figure Popeye before. Well, if you have, you might even remember the infamous scenes of him eating a tin of spinach and shortly after, his muscles popping out. Well, not only your muscles benefit by you eating that food, but your brain does, too. Spinach is loaded with lutein, folate and beta-carotene, which are all known to prevent dementia.

10. Eggs

Last, but definitely not least, my personal favorite - eggs. Similar to salmon, eggs consist of omega-3-fatty acids, also known as DHA. On top of that eggs contain choline, a compound that helps in maintaining healthy brain cell membranes. In terms of cooking, eggs are so versatile, too. You can eat them boiled, poached, scrambled or fried.

Below is a picture of me studying at Tasty Healthy, drinking a banana smoothie and a veggy burrito. Happy studying!

Sincerely,

Laura
