At the beginning of november, a few of my friends and I decided to go to Chiang Mai to witness the Yee Peng festival. During our stay there, we decided to go for brunch in one of the many beautiful cafés the city has to offer. Chiang Mai is famous for all of their healthy and plant-based options. Obviously I had to write a blog post about the whole experience in order to compare it to our favorite restaurant in Bangkok, Tasty Healthy.
The menu:
Firstly, the menu at Rustic & Blue is absolutely amazing. They offer everything from acai bowls to salads using all healthy and natural ingredients. In comparison to Tasty Healthy, the food is definitely better due to all the different flavours and unique offerings, such as the french toast covered in roasted walnuts and passion fruit paste.
The presentation:
Not only is the interior stunning, but the presentation of the food is, too. There are plants, neon signs and cushions everywhere and you just know that they put in a lot of effort. Tasty Healthy in comparison is very simple and not as colourful. Even though presentation is important to them, too, as you can see with their smoothie parfaits and the herbal rice salad, it isn't as instagram-worthy as Rustic & Blue.
The Pricing:
With the above two aspects in mind, it isn't surprising that Rustic & Blue is way more expensive than Tasty Healthy. The prices of the food is comparable to European prices, which makes it very expensive. However, a brunch like that in Germany would still cost a lot more.
The mission:
The mission of the two restaurants is the same. They both want to promote a healthy lifestyle that is delicious at the same time.
The Marketing:
Since Tasty Healthy has only been around for seven months, it hasn't been able to focus on developing a strong online presence yet. Rustic & Blue not only has a strong online presence, especially on facebook, but it also has top ratings on TripAdvisor, which nowadays is worth a lot.
The location:
The location of the two is very comparable, since they both aren't located in the center of the city.
The customers:
In consequence of the above results, the customers are very different, too. While the majority of Tasty Healthy Tasty's customers are students from Chulalongkorn, the typical customer of Rustic & Blue are Westerners that are currently spending their holiday in Chiang Mai.
I hope you enjoy the photos I took below!
Sincerely,
